The Horpol MB-1020 serie includes LED side marker lights designed for application on trucks and semi-trailers in particular. Featuring a short stem and frosted lens, this model is suitable for both 12 and 24 V on-board systems. The side marker light has an amber coloured light output and features an open wire end with a 50 cm cable for direct connection to the vehicle wiring. The robust rubber housing and impact-resistant polycarbonate lens offer protection against external influences. With a compact size of ø79 x 107 mm (housing 92 mm thick), this LED side marker light is suitable for surface mounting on various vehicle types. Thanks to its IP68 rating, the product is completely dust- and waterproof, and meets CE, ECE-R10 and ECE-R6-CAT5 certifications. ECE R48 — where every lamp on a vehicle must sit.

R48 is the master installation regulation. It defines which lamps are mandatory, which are optional, where they may be mounted, and how they must switch. Individual lamp regulations (R7 for position, R87 for DRL, R65 for beacons) certify the lamp itself. R48 certifies the vehicle on which the lamps are fitted.

R148 replaces and unifies the previous patchwork of lamp regulations (R6, R7, R23, R38, R77, R87, R91) into one consolidated standard for signalling lamps. It came into force for new vehicle type approvals in September 2023, with full mandatory application by 2027. What was once seven regulations covering direction indicators, position lamps, reversing lamps, parking lamps, end-outline markers, DRLs and side-marker lamps is now one document.
